Fever is a rise in body
temperature above normal. In the
early stages there is
accompanying headache, sickness,
thirst, diarrhoea or
constipation, and possibly back
pain. This is usually followed
by an increase in pulse and
breathing, hot dry skin, a
marked thirst and loss of
appetite, and reduced urination.
It is primarily
caused by a viral or bacterial
infection, and may occur with
any infection, however minor.
It is recommended to
consult the doctor if fever
persists.
