The sciatic nerve
is the major nerve in the leg,
passing down the back of the
thigh from the base of the
spinal column. The pain in the
sciatic nerve is felt in the
back of the thigh, leg and foot.
The commonest cause is a
prolapsed inter-vertebral disc
pressing on a nerve root, but it
may also result from ankylosing
spondylitis and other conditions
like spinal tumour. |
